"He who sees dependent arising sees the Dharma; he who sees the Dharma sees dependent arising." - The Buddha
"Whatever is dependently co-arisen that is explained to be emptiness. ...emptiness is the relinquishing of all views. For whomever emptiness is a view, that one has accomplished nothing." - Nagarjuna
"Is it not senseless to take this false view - that the mind is eternal but forms perish - and equate it to the splendid Dharma of the Buddhas... . Just know it for a false, non-Buddhist view, and do not lend an ear to it." - Eihei Dogen.
The group is part of the international White Plum Asanga founded by the late Japanese Zen Master, Taizan Maezumi Roshi (1931-1995). Maezumi Roshi was a Dharma successor in three lines of Zen Buddhism from three different masters. We therefore have practices from both the Soto and Rinzai schools, zazen sitting meditation and koan study (practiced with a qualified teacher).
The practice was brought to the UK by Maezumi himself and his Dharma successor, Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi. Genpo Roshi's sucessors have also been influential, Catherine Genno Pages Roshi and Anton Tenkei Coppens Roshi, and another of Maezumi Roshi's successors, Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi, visits the UK every year to conduct retreats.
We have two resident teachers in England: Nancy Genshin Gabysch Sensei and David Keizan Scott Sensei.
